So yeah....it all started out with a fall in the ice at the end of February. I ended up getting a MRI of my wrist because it was causing alot of pain. This was completed on the 28th. I attempted to work even though the pain was unbearable at times. I went to see my doctor and then an orthopedic surgeon.March 5th would have been my last day I worked. At this time, the orthopedic surgeon had referred me to Louisville, Kentucky for a specialist who dealt mainly with hands. By this time had been told by my direct report that I was faking and there is no way I could have know on the 6th that I had this injury. He went on to tell me that I was unreliable and wasn't able to take FMLA.After discussion with HR, it was cleared up that I was eligible for FMLA and that he wasn't a doctor to decide that. I also discuss the FMLA should be given without any harassment in doing so.
So after all of this, I was referred to Lexington because this medical group came to Lexington a few days a week. We arrive, they look at my films and decide it is too complicated for this particular doctor to do. I have a complete ligament tear on one side of my wrist, a partial tear on the other side, as well as a sprang to my wrist. They state I will need to go all the way to Louisville to be seen down there. The next appointment will be a week away. What from here?
