IN THE MEANTIME

Well, my appointment is tomorrow....hmmm.....It was supposed to be last week, but it needed to be changed. Since my last posting, I have had another accident which involved the stair caving in with me on it and I hurt my right knee and ankle. Good news...no breaks...bad news....lots of pain. Once I have my appt. tomorrow, I will follow up the Orthopedic doctor.
Well, last week was trick or treat, so I wanted to post a pic of my two youngest children...They looked so adorable. Brady was a policeman and Cheyenne was a Cowgirl Diva. She is such a girly girl. They were both sick the week before so it was so good to seeing them feeling well.
This is a short post, but I will have alot more to say after my appointment tomorrow....Until then.........

I know, it has been awhile......

Here it is September 27th, and yes it has been awhile since I wrote on my blog. I am not sure if I mentally didn't have the energy to do it...Anyway, here I am still with my injury and waiting for some healing words, answers. I have had one surgery on my wrist which entailed shortening my bone by sawing it into and removing a piece. That was July 21st. Here I am, still in pain, little movement of my wrist and unable to lift. Being told I cannot lift has left me a little sad and frustrated. I am unable to lift my children and give them the hug they and I soo long for and need. I also have a nerve compression and shoulder pain that makes it difficult to sit on the bleachers for sports events for a long period of time. My last visit to the doctor he has decided that I need to have a complete wrist replacement. I never realized how much one is dependent on something as little as a wrist. It has truly limited my life. So,I return to the doctor on October 26th to plan for my next surgery....what will happen from here can only be good to great. Until then, I patiently wait....As bst said by Green Day...."Wake Me Up When September Ends".

REALLY? YEAH, REALLY!!

So yeah....it all started out with a fall in the ice at the end of February. I ended up getting a MRI of my wrist because it was causing alot of pain. This was completed on the 28th. I attempted to work even though the pain was unbearable at times. I went to see my doctor and then an orthopedic surgeon.March 5th would have been my last day I worked. At this time, the orthopedic surgeon had referred me to Louisville, Kentucky for a specialist who dealt mainly with hands. By this time had been told by my direct report that I was faking and there is no way I could have know on the 6th that I had this injury. He went on to tell me that I was unreliable and wasn't able to take FMLA.After discussion with HR, it was cleared up that I was eligible for FMLA and that he wasn't a doctor to decide that. I also discuss the FMLA should be given without any harassment in doing so.
So after all of this, I was referred to Lexington because this medical group came to Lexington a few days a week. We arrive, they look at my films and decide it is too complicated for this particular doctor to do. I have a complete ligament tear on one side of my wrist, a partial tear on the other side, as well as a sprang to my wrist. They state I will need to go all the way to Louisville to be seen down there. The next appointment will be a week away. What from here?
